Athletics at St. Paul’s Lutheran School, Oconomowoc

RISE ABOVE

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
John 16:33

Our Philosophy

At St. Paul’s Lutheran School, athletics are more than competition—they are an extension of our mission to grow faithful disciples of Jesus Christ. Every practice, game, and team experience is an opportunity to glorify God, recognizing that every ability, opportunity, and success is a gift from Him.

Christ is at the center of all we do. He guides our preparation, shapes our competition, and defines how we conduct ourselves both on and off the field or court.

Building Character Through Competition

We believe athletics provide a powerful opportunity to develop Christian character. Through sports, students learn:

  • Perseverance

  • Self-discipline

  • Respect

  • Integrity

We strive to compete with excellence while remaining humble, understanding that both victory and defeat are opportunities to reflect Christ’s love, grace, and sportsmanship.

What Makes a Warrior?

Our ultimate goal goes far beyond the scoreboard. We aim to develop faithful young leaders who:
  • Compete with joy
  • Lead with humility
  • Play with confidence in Christ
As Warriors, our athletes use their God-given talents to serve others and give glory to Him in all they do. As a WARRIOR, we play and compete for HIM!

Warrior Athletics

Teamwork is foundational to our athletic philosophy. Just as the body of Christ is made up of many parts working together, our teams value each individual’s role and contribution. We encourage athletes to support one another, communicate positively, and place team success above personal recognition. True greatness is achieved not through individual achievement alone, but through unity, trust, and shared purpose.

Ben Mueller, Athletic Director Head Shot | St. Paul's Lutheran School | Oconomowoc, WI

Meet Our Athletic Director: Ben Mueller

Ben Mueller has been a dedicated part of St. Paul’s Lutheran School since 2004, bringing both passion and purpose to his role as Athletic Director. A proud Oconomowoc native and St. Paul’s alumnus, his connection to the school runs deep, making his work here not just a career, but a calling.

Inspired by his college coach, Andy Eberhardt, Mr. Mueller pursued a path in education and athletics with a clear mission: to impact the lives of young people through coaching while sharing the message of Christ. His heart for mentorship and faith-driven leadership is evident in everything he does.

“The greatest blessing of working in a Christian school is the opportunity to share Christ openly and consistently, reminding students that they are loved by Jesus in all circumstances.”

Guided by the themes “Christ in All Things” and “We Play for Him,” Mr. Mueller centers his leadership on faith, recognizing that all good things come from God. He sees God’s work clearly at St. Paul’s, especially when former students return as Lutheran educators, continuing to build His kingdom for future generations.
