“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain” (Rev. 5:12), who by His cross and resurrection has conquered sin and death. With His blood, He has “ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation” (Rev. 5:9). Three times Peter had denied Him; Jesus restored Simon and three times commissioned him to feed His lambs and tend His sheep (John 21:15–17). This is a reminder of our own frailty, and that we, too, are called by Jesus’ Gospel, enlightened with His gifts, and restored for a life of service.
