When questioned about who He was, notice the signs of the Savior to which Jesus pointed: “the blind receive their sight and the lame walk, lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them.” (Matthew 11:5, ESV) There is a combination of physical and spiritual healing. That’s because we are created—body and soul—in the “image and likeness of God,” (Genesis 1:27) and Christ came to restore that image. Christ is risen from the dead; therefore, “be patient” and “establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand” (James 5:7, 8). He is coming to heal… soul and body. Having received this love and hope, by God’s grace, let us remember that “sorrow and sighing shall flee away” (Is. 35:10) and give Christ’s love and hope to others.
