“The Lord has made known his salvation; he has revealed his righteousness in the sight of the nations.” (Psalm 98:2, ESV) He has done this in Christ, who laid down his life for us as the eternal sacrifice for sins. This is just as Jesus foreshadowed: “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13, ESV) As those who have, by grace, received the “water and blood” testimony of Christ (1 John 5:6–7), our joy is full (John 15.11). In joy, then, we “love one another” as Christ loved us (John 15.12), and only God himself knows what that will mean for each of us.
