Living as a Minority 1: Power Promised
Christ is risen and ascended, and He’s still very much in mission. Contexts vary, and Spirit blows when and where he pleases, but through His beloved Christ continues to call people to repentance and forgiveness. This has never been easy, but in the U.S. it is a challenging time. Biblically confessional Christians are a minority today, yet our readings teach us that we have nothing to fear because Jesus has promised us the power we need to live out our discipleship, despite conflict. Our text also shows the need that the church has for “house-keeping details” (the election of Judas’ replacement). Both are necessary: outreach and “house-keeping” with the emphasis on outreach. This will be played out in the whole Book of Acts.
