We tend to be cause-and-effect people. We assume that every fault has a direct cause. For politeness sake we often don’t say it, but we think it. Even Jesus’ disciples assumed that the man born blind must have been because his parents sinned. (Jn 9.2) Jesus corrects these false assumption, but He also reveals himself to be the blindness-healing and light-giving Savior whom Isaiah had prophesied. (Isa 42.14-21) True faith confesses Jesus Christ as Lord, the Light of the World, and lives not in the darkness of foolish assumptions, but in the light of God’s Word. (Eph 5.8-14).
