When things do not go as we think they should we often close our ears to God and quarrel with those in authority. (Ex 17.1-7) We assume that our suffering is punishment, that God is not listening to us. However, a Samaritan woman’s encounter with Jesus (Jn 4.5-26) shows us that God’s desire is that we humble ourselves, acknowledge our weakness, and listen to Him. Through His love He will then transform our misunderstanding and suffering and struggle into hope and peace. (Rom 5.1-8).
